Este legajo contiene los siguientes artículos de prensa: 1) "Facts Kept from Mexico by Carranza. Rigid Censorship has been Placed on Newspapers, Letters | Telegrams". THE SANANTONIO LIGHT, San Antonio, Tex., E.U.A. Agosto 26, 1919. Denuncia la censura impuesta por Venustiano Carranza que no permite pasar ni un periódico norteamericano y previene sobre la posible publicación en español del pacto militar celebrado entre Scott y Obregón y advierte que ello obligaría a Alvaro Obregón a revelar tal como fueron los hechos. 2) Declaración a la prensa que hace el Gral. Obregón comparando su actitud contra los acaparadores en la ciudad de México en 1915 y la que en 1919 toma el gobierno de los Estados Unidos. 3) "Mexico's Latest Bid for Attention". THE LITERARY DIGEST. Agosto 30, 1919. Análisis de las relaciones México-Estados Unidos; el problema de las compañías petroleras y la actitud del gobierno de Carranza ante ellas. Analiza también la política carrancista, su zona de influencia, el poder de Villa y la ineficacia del gobierno para detenerlo. 4) "Treaty Opponents Win New Votes; Carranza Warned on Intervention. Conflict is Predicted by Gen. Alvarado". LOS ANGELES EXAMINER. Los Angeles, Cal., E.U.A. Sept. 6, 1919. Comentan carta abierta que el Gral. Salvador Alvarado dirige a Carranza y a los Grales. Obregón y González advirtiéndoles de una inminente intervención norteamericana si no se dan seguridades a la población. Acusa a Carranza por la corrupción y por su política personalista; considera que los más graves problemas del país son: la pacificación, la organización del ejército, el arreglo de la deuda interior y exterior, el problema del petróleo, el de las reclamaciones, la cuestión bancaria; pide a Obregón y a González que abandonen la contienda electoral. 5) "Mex. Civil War in 6 Months Predicted". EVENING HERALD. Los Angeles, Cal., E.U.A. Sept. 6, 1919. Anuncian que si México no controla el bandidaje, los Estados Unidos deberán intervenir o la guerra civil es inevitable. 6) "Claim Cantu gave U.S. False Report". LOS ANGELES EVENING HERALD. Los Angeles, Cal., E.U.A. Sept. 10, 1919. Informa del secuestro de dos aviadores norteamericanos y de la autorización que el Gobernador Esteban Cantú da a tropas americanas para que los busquen en territorio mexicano. 7) "La Historia de los Campos Petroleros. Se ventilan las vicisitudes de los Prospectadores y la Leyes Detestables que los Afectan". Traducción de un artículo (cuyo original no se encontró) del THE ARIZONA DAILY STAR. Tucson, Ariz. E.U.A. Sept. 12, 1919. Informan de la declaración que rindió el Sr. E.H. Doheny, Presidente de la Compañía Petrolera Mexicana Limitada, ante el Sub-Comité de Relaciones Exteriores del Senado Norteamericano, en la que hace una historia de los campos petroleros y las vicisitudes que han tenido que sortear tanto por el bandolerismo como por las leyes y decretos expedidos por Carranza. Relata O'Doheny como ha tenido necesidad de pagar a jefes rebeldes para recibir protección e insinúa que algunos norteamericanos habían recibido dinero del gobierno de Carranza para trabajar a favor de México. 8) Entrevista concedida al Sr. Kent Hunter, representante del periódico CHICAGO TRIBUNE por el Gral. Alvaro Obregón. Copia mecanográfica en inglés con las preguntas y respuestas. El Gral. Alvaro Obregón contesta preguntas relativas a política interna y externa y a la actitud que adoptará en caso de llegar a ser Presidente, ante diversas cuestiones. 9) "Obregon's Argument is Shallow for the Facts are Against Him". EL PASO HERALD. El Paso, Tex., E.U.A. Sept. 13-14, 1919. Comentarios al mensaje que dirigió el Gral. Obregón al pueblo norteamericano en el que se reconoce que tendría gran importancia el que el Gral. Obregón se hubiera pronunciado en contra de la intervención de los E.U.A., únicamente si llegara a ser Presidente de México; lo acusan de no considerar los atropellos y muerte que han sufrido miles de ciudadanos de los Estados Unidos en México y afirman que si se da una intervención es para defender esas vidas; reconocen que el interés que el Gral. Obregón tiene en la buena armonía de las relaciones México-Estados Unidos se debe a que sus negocios de venta de garbanzo los hace con comerciantes norteamericanos. 10) "Plot Charge Traced to Mexico. Debekker ante la Sub-Comisión del Senado encargado de investigar a México. 11) "Obregon's Message". THE SAN ANTONIO LIGHT. San Antonio, Tex., E.U.A. Sept. 15, 1919. Comentarios al mensaje del Gral. Alvaro Obregón al pueblo de los Estados Unidos y a la política entre ambos pueblos. 12) Cable firmado por la A.P., informando del desarrollo de las campañas para la Presidencia de los Generales Obregón y González.

Obregón. 2) "Obregon Backed by Growers. Mexicans Supporting One-Armed Hero for Success in Developing The Garbanzo". THE BULLETIN, San Francisco, Cal. Julio 15, 1919. Anuncian la próxima candidatura del Gral. Alvaro Obregón y destacan como su gran mérito el interés que ha puesto en el cultivo y comercialización del garbanzo. 3) TAVEA, Valdo (Lic.). "El Proceso Psicológico de Dos Candidatos". Analiza las influencias y manipulaciones que el Presidente Carranza ha ejercido sobre el Gral. Pablo González para enfrentarlo al Gral. Alvaro Obregón. 4) ALATRISTE, Sealtiel L. "The United States of Mexico Today. A Studio of its Commercial Policy". THE EXPORT SHIPPER AND COMMERCER, Chicago, Ill. Agosto, 1919. Este artículo está incompleto, sólo aparece la presentación de SealtielL. Alatriste, agente comercial de México en Estados Unidos, quien se dice escribió un artículo que no está. 5) "Los Titubeos del Montismo son la Primera Confesión de su Derrota". Extra de EVOLUCION, Celaya, Gto. Agosto 1, 1919. "Grave Rumor de Cohecho de los CC. Diputados a la Legislatura de Guanajuato". Extra de LA FARSA, Guanajuato, Gto. Marzo 5, 1919. Reseña de una reunión celebrada en Nueva York a la que asistieron residentes mexicanos y hombres de negocios americanos quienes buscan un mejor entendimiento entre ellos. 8) "Clash Near in Mexico. Obregon | Gonzalez, Rivals por Presidency, Head Armies". WASHINGTON POST. Washington, D.C. Agosto 11, 1919. Recorte enviado por Myron M. Parker en el que analiza la sucesión presidencial en México y las personalidades de los dos candidatos, los Grales. Alvaro Obregón y Pablo González. 9) SPILLANE, Richard. "Carranza must Bow to Stop Intervention". THE LOS ANGELES RECORD, Los Angeles, Cal. Agosto 14 de 1919. Afirma que el desarrollo que México haya tenido en el pasado y presente se debe a obra de técnicos y capitales extranjeros, para quienes los beneficios han sido menores a lo que han invertido. 10) "U.S. May Enter Into Mexico". THE LOS ANGELES RECORD. Agosto 14, 1919. Informa de nota de protesta que la Embajada de los Estados Unidos en México entregó al gobierno de Carranza por la muerte de un joven norteamericano. Amenazan con intervenir en México si no hay seguridad para los norteamericanos residentes en México. 11) "Obregon States his Policies if Elected to Presidency", NEW YORK HERALD. Agosto 17, 1919. Comenta el MANIFIESTO A LA NACION del Gral. Alvaro Obregón criticando a éste por no tocar ciertos asuntos de política nacional e internacional. 12) "Ruiz, in L.A. Says Mexico for Obregon". Alvaro Obregón con motivo de su viaje a los Estados Unidos. 2) "Obregon plans $5,000,000 food deal. General to sell Hoover Mexico Peas". THE BULLETIN, San Francisco, Cal. Abril 23, 1918. Se informa de los tratados comerciales del Gral. Alvaro Obregón para vender el garbanzo que se produce en Sonora y Sinaloa a través de la Unión de Garbanceros, en los Eestados Unidos. 3) "De como establecer dentro de las necesidades económicas el equilibrio entre el Capital y el Trabajo". Obregón a la Presidencia. 11) "Como Pensamos. Paralelo que se Impone". Junio 30, 1919. Analiza las figuras de los Grales. Alvaro Obregón y Pablo González, candidatos a la Presidencia de la República. 12) Primera plana del primer número de "EL LATIGO, periódico libre, de principios fijos, doctrinario, verídico, político y de sana información para salud. Saldrá a luz pública dos o más veces al mes", cuyo Director es Rafael Esquer y que se publica en inglés y en español en El Paso, Tex. Sus artículos pretenden dar enseñanzas y consejos para ser mejores.

Alvaro Obregón copia de la carta que recibió del Sr. Felipe Carrillo Puerto de Mérida, Yuc. Respuesta indicando haberla recibido. El Gral. Carlos Plank felicita al Gral. Alvaro Obregón por su mensaje al pueblo norteamericano. El Gral. Plank informa al Gral. Obregón sobre la entrevista que sostuvo en Querétaro con el Sr. Venustiano Carranza, en la cual comentaron la campaña política, los ataques del Gral. Benjamín Hill y de los peleceanos. Para limar fricciones le sugiere que viaje a la ciudad de México. Respuesta indicando que así lo hará.

Correspondencia entre el abogado norteamericano Myron M. Parker y el Gral. Alvaro Obregón, en la cual el primero manifiesta al Gral. Obregón su apoyo ante su posible candidatura a la Presidencia y le comenta que México necesita un Presidente que inspire confianza a los inversionistas extranjeros para que ayuden a revivir la industria; anexa artículo de periódico titulado "For Men Who Want to Succeed Carranza", WASHINGTON STAR, abril 30 de 1919. Myron M. felicita al Gral. Alvaro Obregón por su candidatura y le pide le envíe su obra OCHO MIL KILOMETROS EN CAMPAÑA al Sr. W.E. Richardson, quien está muy interesado en tenerla. El Gral. Alvaro Obregón envía al Sr. Myron M. Parker el MANIFIESTO A LA NACION. Respuesta agradeciendo y expresándole el beneplácito con el que el pueblo y gobierno norteamericano recibirían su triunfo y se pone a sus órdenes. El Gral. Obregón presenta con el Sr. Parker al Sr. Ramón P. Denegri, recién nombrado Cónsul General de México en Nueva York. El Sr. Parker envía al Gral. Alvaro Obregón un artículo de periódico aparecido en los Estados Unidos en el que reproducen declaraciones hechas por él, relativas a la campaña política. Informa el Myron M. Parker al Gral. Alvaro Obregón que el arqueólogo William Gates, quien pasó algún tiempo en México, se presentó ante la Cámara de Diputados y criticó al gobierno de Carranza, diciendo que vidas americanas habían sido sacrificadas por los bandos revolucionarios, quienes son los que controlan México; anexa carta que el propio Parker escribe al Diputado Philip P. Campbell, en la que defiende al Gral. Obregón y su política. Comenta el Sr. Myron M. Parker al Gral. Obregón la entrevista que le concedió al Sr. Howard E. Morton, en la que el Gral. Obregón da a conocer su posición respecto a los Estados Unidos. En cuanto al comité del Senado que se ocupa de investigar la situación de México, Parker tranquiliza al Gral. Obregón, ya que no es probable según él una intervención de los Estados Unidos en México; informa que se ha entrevistado con el Senador Fall, a quien le ha explicado lo conveniente que sería la elección de Obregón. Myron Parker envía al Gral. Alvaro Obregón recorte de periódico con la noticia de la candidatura del Embajador Ignacio Bonillas para la Presidencia de la República; además le comenta sobre la situación política en los Estados Unidos ante las próximas elecciones, sobre el secuestro en México de Jenkins y sobre lo remoto de una intervención armada en México. Anexa recortes de periódico titulados: "Becloud Real Issue. Mexicans use Kidnaping Sensations to Hide Weakness"; "Obregon faction calls Convention. Ambassador to Washington will take Cabinet Post"; "Carranza favors Bonillas. Will support Ambassador to U.S. for President, Press Reports say".

Obregón como candidato a la Presidencia por el Partido Liberal Constitucionalista; a la designación del Lic. Basilio Vadillo como Director del órgano periodístico del Partido; a la publicación de diversos capítulos de OCHO MIL KILOMETROS EN CAMPAÑA en forma de folletos; a recomendaciones; a cuestiones electorales en el estado de Guanajuato; a la postura del Gral. Manuel M. Diéguez de que ningún militar debe tomar parte en la campaña y la necesidad de inclinarlo a favor del Gral. Alvaro Obregón; al pacto que propone el Gral. Pablo González al Gral. Alvaro Obregón; al triunfo del obregonismo en la Cámara de Diputados; a las negociaciones que el Partido Liberal Constitucionalista ha intentado establecer con las autoridades eclesiásticas; a la organización del Comité Ejecutivo Electoral del Partido Liberal Constitucionalista en el Distrito Federal; a la conveniencia de que el Gral. Obregón nombre un representante suyo en los Estados Unidos; a la campaña antiobregonista que llevan a cabo el Secretario de Gobernación, el Lic. Aguirre Berlanga y Pastor Rouaix a través del poder que les da su cargo en la Comisión Nacional Agraria, ambos obviamente por órdenes del Ejecutivo, es decir, de Venustiano Carranza, quien obstaculiza permanentemente la campaña a favor de Obregón; al programa de gobierno que el Partido Liberal Constitucionalista propone al Gral. Alvaro Obregón; a la carta que envió el Gral. Obregón a la Federación Obrera de Hilados y Tejidos del Distrito Federal; informes sobre el desarrollo de la campaña en diversos estados de la República.

Correspondencia entre el Sr. L.V. Navarro, Director de la Navarro Publishing Co. de Los Angeles, Cal. y el Gral. Alvaro Obregón, en la cual L.V. Navarro envía al Gral. Obregón su última obra de enseñanza. Informa L.V. Navarro haber recibido el MANIFIESTO A LA NACION y se ofrece a trabajar a favor de la candidatura del Gral. Alvaro Obregón en los Estados Unidos, donde goza de cierta influencia en varios círculos. L.V. Navarro informa de la buena acogida que han dado los periódicos norteamericanos a su MANIFIESTO A LA NACION; le reitera su apoyo a su candidatura y de nuevo se pone a sus órdenes. L.V. Navarro envía al Gral. Alvaro Obregón informes sobre la actitud de la prensa norteamericana, así como un recorte de la entrevista que le hacen a Lansing, Secretario de Estado Norteamericano, en París, sobre posible intervención de los Estados Unidos a México, "Lansing Says no Action by U.S. in Mexico". L.V. Navarro envía al Gral. Alvaro Obregón recortes de prensa norteamericana en los que tratan de justificar una intervención armada en México denigrando a nuestro país y a nuestros gobernantes: a) Mc. GRATH, Justin. "2 Nations to Back U.S. is New Rumor"; b) "Deny U.S. Plans Invasion of Mexico"; c) BRONNER, Milton. "Europe to Ask U.S. to Collecto Mexico Claims"; d) "Woman who saw Tragedy to Testify". LOS ANGELES EVENING HERALD, Los Angeles, Cal. E.U.A. Jul.16, 1919. e) SEARS HENNING, Arthur. "Wilson gets Report on Mexican Situation", THE LOS ANGELES TIMES, Los Angeles, Cal. E.U.A. Jul.18, 1919. f) "New Data on Mexico goes to Capital". El Sr. L.V. Navarro informa al Gral. Alvaro Obregón que se entrevistó con el jefe de la sección editorial del EXAMINER y que parece que lo convenció de variar su política relativa tanto a México como a Obregón; ofrece al Gral. Obregón ser intermediario entre él y la prensa norteamericana. El Sr.L.V. Navarro envía al Gral. Obregón el recorte de un periódico en el que se transcribe el telegrama que envía el Gral. Obregón al Presidente Venustiano Carranza, ofreciendo sus servicios militares en caso de intervención armada de los Estados Unidos: "Obregon Offers his Services". El Sr. L.V. Navarro reitera su confianza en lo que será la administración del Gral. Alvaro Obregón. Recortes de periódico titulados: "Ligget Talks on Mex. Against Intervention", LOS ANGELES EVENING EXPRESS, Los Angeles, Cal. E.U.A. Sept. 8, 1919; publica una entrevista con el Gral. Ligget, Comandante del Departamento del Oeste, quien asegura que la frontera con México está en paz y que no hay razón para pensar en una intervención armada. "New Crisis in Mex. Border Situation". LOS ANGELES EVENING HERALD, Los Angeles, Cal. E.U.A. Sept. 9, 1919; informan de diversos problemas de criminalidad y desorden en México que obligarona los Estados Unidos a tomar medidas drásticas. L.V. Navarro envía al Gral. Alvaro Obregón un elogioso artículo publicado en la prensa norteamericana en el que reproducen y comentan el Manifiesto que el Gral. Alvaro Obregón dirigió al pueblo norteamericano: "Gen. Obregon Protests U.S. Intervention", LOS ANGELES EXAMINER, Los Angeles, Cal. E.U.A. Sept.13, 1919.
